My Summer 2013 Project Backlog Plan of Attack

It’s not like I’ve gone out and bought a tonne of new games, so why is it that my backlog is growing?

Skyrim.

Yup. That damn addictive game keeps me coming back, even though I have finished all the quests I can with my first character. And now the collector’s edition with the one bit of DLC I did not buy is coming out. I’m thinking the only way to get me off this game is to leave it at my mother in law’s place all summer long. It has distracted me far too long now.

I also got a 3DS XL for Valentine’s Day which was great. It meant I could finally play Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask which had been sitting on my nightstand since it launched. I was resolute in waiting for the XL model to come out and my husband also made sure he got it for me in blue. But then I bought Paper Mario on sale and got hooked on that, completely ignoring Layton. I followed that up with SMT Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers which I am about half way through (an impulse pick up one night when Matt was at GameStop picking something up for himself). Then there was Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, a game I was excited for but rushed to pick up in time for a promo Nintendo had where I could get Super Mario World for free…

It doesn’t seem like a lot, but when you take into account that I am trying to squeeze in some writing on the weekdays and have anywhere from 5-15 hours of part time “work” to do, it’s not hard to see how I’ve fallen so far behind.

But my summer outlook is pretty good; there is nothing in the “Annette’s Coming Soon” list of games until Tales of Xillia in August. This means I have about 8 weeks to get things done (in between studying for that exam I am dreading). If I can stick to it, that is anywhere from 6 to 8 games, assuming I can get about one finished per week. Eight games may not seem like a lot but some of the stuff in my backlog will take a lot of time. RPGs, most specifically.

8 weeks.

I can do this…

Right?
