Stealth games are not my forte, not by a long shot. Try as I might, I’m often running to find a locker to hide in or get caught up in a gunfight that I’d rather not have to deal with seeing as 9 times out of 10 I am short on ammo. But Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear series has always intrigued me with its story and blatant rip off of 80s movie era Kurt Russell. True fact: I convinced my District Manager to let me open the EB Games I managed at midnight for MGS4, the only store in town to do so. Then I went home and played the opening hour or so of the game before passing out. The game is still (unfortunately) in my backlog. (more…)

Sakura Kinamoto – Nendoroid #400

While I may not love Cardcaptor Sakura as much as I do Sailor Moon, the fantabulous women of CLAMP are a force I am drawn to no matter what work they put out. I’ve read almost everything that’s been translated to English via Tokyopop and now with Dark Horse reprints I’m slowly rebuilding my library.

Good Smile Company announced Sakura Kinamoto as a Nendoroid and since it was 1) a Nendoroid, and 2) a CLAMP figure, it was impossible for me to pass this up. I even made sure to preorder her directly from the Good Smile Shop so that I could get the bonus Sealing Wand charm that I will never use but keep in the drawer with Sakura’s parts forever. (more…)

Nendoroid More Faces Review

More Faces Boxed

They’re here!!

My first direct purchase from Good Smile Company to arrive are these wonderful extra Nendoroid faces. Well, mostly wonderful. There are 4 of them I am not super excited about for now because I have no figures they’d work with (plus that one squishy face is just ugly). I was lucky enough to get one of each of the nine faces in my shipment, which meant I needed to find a model to show of my favourites of the bunch. I decided to use Teddie (Kuma) from Persona 4 in his human form since I have no other faces for him than the one he came with. (more…)

Nendoroid Madness: Tales of Series Collection

TalesNendoroidsBanner

Last week I discovered that Good Smile Company had released a set of Nendoroid figures based on the “Tales of” video game series. And because I am addicted to both, there was no way in hell I was not going to have these in my collection.

What I thought was a for sure 6 piece set ended up arriving as a retailer pack of 8 blind box figures, meaning I had to open every one and pray with my fingers crossed that I opened a complete set. Which I did!! I was even lucky enough to acquire the “secret” figure of Leon Magnus from Tales of Destiny (furthest left in the picture).

Beside Leon are: Yuri & Estelle from Tales of Vesperia, Asbel & Sofi from Tales of Graces, and finally Jude & Milla from Tales of Xillia.

There was a bit of a mishap when I was snapping Leon onto his base as his sword snapped off from his hand and this will be remedied with model glue this weekend. Thankfully the other figures with swords had theirs come separately so there were no more broken pieces. The only other issue I had was with Sofi’s pigtails. I had to twist the plugs in which took a few attempts as simply pushing them in was a complete failure.

Overall, extremely happy with these guys and now Haruhi, Yuki and Asahina (Haruhi Suzumiya Summer Collection Nendoroids) have company.
