After being lucky enough to enjoy both the Alpha and Beta releases of Destiny (thank you, Bungie!!), I thought I would just share a few thoughts about both experiences. I’m not the most hardcore shooter fan, I stopped caring about Halo after the original trilogy game and I’m not into Call of Duty. When I play shooters, I want fun and engaging stories that allow me to play co-op with Matt or three of my closest friends and doesn’t rely on PvP stuff. PvP is just not enjoyable with a bunch of random people for me. Sure, when I can get a dozen of my best gaming friends together and maybe with some age appropriate beverages I’ll partake in some Capture the Flag. PvP is like the sprig of parsley old school restaurants put on the edge of your plate for garnish. (more…)

I want to preface this by stating for those who do not know me very well that I am not a fangirl of any Big Three console makers. It’s always been that I get the systems that have the games I want to play. Last time around I got the Xbox 360 before my PS3 just because it had more that I wanted to play right away. (That was post-breakup with my ex where we had both consoles at launch.) And there is a reason Matt & I don’t have a Wii U as of yet – there isn’t anything we feel we have to play right now. As it is, our Wii isn’t even plugged in right now and the last thing we played on it was Super Mario 3. (more…)

Oh Microsoft! Sometimes I just don’t get you.
You schedule a console reveal event prior to E3, which in and of itself is completely fine, but then you pretty much ignore your gaming core, focusing instead on TV and movie integration, show off your recently purchased Skype tools, and push the Kinect technology without clarifying exactly how you will ensure privacy with your always-on camera. Sure, you flashed us some EA titles and trotted out poor old Halo yet again, but as a TV series with Spielberg attached.
At this point, I’m telling myself that while the reveal did absolutely nothing for me. That I would wait to see what E3 brought to the table. (more…)
