Zettai Reido

Every season of Japanese television features a few different police dramas, some light-hearted, others much more serious. Zettai Reido is Japan’s version of Cold Case, featuring Aya Ueto as a young detective newly transferred to the Special Investigations Unit. This unit deals with cases long forgotten, pursuing with new leads if they arise and actively trying to clear up the backlog of unsolved murders packed neatly away in their warehouse. Cooperation between the SIU and the forensic department is vital in order to successfully prosecute and close these cases.

As Izumi, Aya portraits a young woman dedicated to learning from her team, always striving to be a better detective and uncovering the truth. From spending her nights at the office studying to tracing the paths her victims walked, Izumi wants nothing more than to bring closure to the families and victims who have been waiting years for answers. With the wisdom and support of her fellow investigators, Izumi grows more confident in herself, finding clues to bring answers to victims’ families.
